COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College athletic department has entered into an agreement with Stretch Internet to stream audio broadcasts of Tiger athletic events.
The first broadcast will take place Saturday when the Tigers host Miles College in football. A pregame show will start at 1:50, with kickoff set for 2 p.m. Jason James, the voice of the Tigers, will handle the play-by-play duties.
"This is something I have been trying to bring to Benedict for a long time, and I am excited it has finally worked out," Benedict College Sports Information Director Dennis Switzer said. "This will be a great opportunity for Benedict alumni, fans, and family members of student-athletes to be able to follow the events when they can't attend them in person."
The internet audio broadcasts will include home football games, as well as other sports, such as volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball. Road football games will continue to air on WLXC Kiss 103.1 FM and will be available for streaming listeners on the Kiss 103.1 website at http://www.kiss-1031.com/
Benedict College will also work with the department of Mass Communications to provide students an opportunity to learn various aspects of broadcast journalism, including production and on-air time.
Tiger fans can listen to the audio stream on any internet-capable device, including computers, tablets and smart phones.
