Benedict Men's Basketball Signs Sharpshooter Kareem Ransom

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict head men's basketball coach Fred Watson has announced the signing of Kareem Ransom.

A 6-foot-5 guard, Ransom comes to Benedict from Merritt College in Oakland, Calif., where he averaged 10.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He shot 45.5 percent from 3-point range, finishing as one of the best 3-point shooters in the California Community College Athletic Association. He was also a San Jose City College All-Tournament selection after averaging 18.3 points and 4 rebounds per game.

He played at Inderkum High School in Sacramento, Calif., where he averaged 14.5 points, 5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. He was a two-time first-team All-Conference selection, and averaged 30.2 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in the playoffs during his senior year. He was also selected the MVP of the Play Hard Play Smart 50 Elite League.

Ransom becomes the third addition to the two-time defending SIAC Champion Tigers team, joining Jose Roman-Angueira from Ridge View High School and Andrew Crawford from USC Salkehatchie.
