COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict College head football coach James "Mike" White announced his first recruiting  class on Wednesday.

The Tigers signed their first 10 players, although several more were waiting to have their paperwork validated.

The Tigers signed a pair of defensive backs, a pair of running backs, two big defensive linemen, a 300-pound offensive lineman, and a 6-foot-5 quarterback who threw for more than 1,000 yards with 13 touchdowns last year.

"We got a late start in the recruiting game. We're excited about the players we've picked up so far," said White, who took over the Benedict program on Dec. 18. "We'll look to sign a few more before it's all over. We'll look to pick up some more linemen and playmaking guys and we hope to sign more players here locally."
