MOBILE, Ala. – Quayshun Hawkins scored a season-high 31 points to help lead the Benedict College Tigers to an 88-72 victory over Spring Hill College on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The Tigers scored the first 11 points of the game and led start to finish to improve to 8-7 overall and 5-2 in the SIAC. Spring Hill drops to 3-13 overall and 2-3 in the SIAC.
Benedict led by as many as 27 points, 43-16, in the first half before taking a 49-25 lead at the halftime break. The 16-point final margin was as close as Spring Hill would get in the second half.
Hawkins hit a season-high seven 3-pointers in the contest. Brandon Morris had 18 points, while Kel Robin added a season-high 15 points.
The Tigers shot 54.5 percent in the game, their second-best shooting performance this season. Benedict shot a sizzling 63.3 percent (19-of-30) in the first half.
Benedict plays at Newberry College on Monday at 7 p.m.
