WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers dropped their third straight game to start the season, falling to Winston-Salem State 77-60 on Sunday in the Red & White Classic.
The Lady Tigers, who were ranked 25
th in the WBCA D2 preseason poll, now fall to 0-3 on the season. WSSU improves to 2-3 overall.
Benedict shot just 21.9 percent in the first half and trailed 46-23 at the half. Benedict finished the game shooting 28.8 percent. Winston-Salem State had its largest lead, 75-46, with 2:37 left in the game before the Lady Tigers outscored the Rams 14-2 over the final two and a half minutes.
Ay'Anna Bey led the Lady Tigers with 11 points, while
Ayanna Armstead and
JaBree Jones each added 10 points.
Benedict will attempt to win its first game of the season on Tuesday, when they return home to take on Augusta University at 5:30 p.m.
