FORT VALLEY, Ga. –
Raven Baker and
Shirvel Luke each poured in 17 points to lead the Benedict College Lady Tigers to their second straight win of the season, beating Fort Valley State 68-51 on Thursday night.
The Lady Tigers improve to 2-5 overall and 2-1 in the SIAC. Fort Valley State falls to 0-9 overall and 0-3 in the SIAC.
The Lady Tigers led the entire way, scoring 11 of the game's first 13 points. Benedict led 18-9 at the end of the first quarter and had as much as an 18-point lead in the second quarter before the Lady Wildcats cut the lead to 37-26 at the half.
FVSU cut the lead to 37-35 in the third quarter, but Benedict closed out the period with a 10-2 run to take a 50-39 lead heading into the final period. The Lady Tigers maintained a double-digit lead throughout the fourth quarter.
Ay'Anna Bey added 15 points for Benedict. Alicia Franklin led FVSU with 14 points.
Benedict is back in action on Saturday at Albany State.
