COLUMBIA, S.C. – Marshallnae Bell threw a complete game, giving up three earned runs on seven hits and striking out seven in a 4-3 Benedict Lady Tigers' victory against Albany State on Saturday afternoon in SIAC softball action. Albany State won 13-7 in the second game of the doubleheader.

Benedict is currently 2-9 overall and 1-1 in the SIAC. Albany State sits at 2-14 overall and 1-1 in the SIAC.

Taylor McNeal went 3-for-7 with four runs scored, while Chesney Miller also went 3-for-7 with one run scored. Miyah Rogers went 3-for-5 with two runs scored.

In the first game, Albany State jumped out to a 3-0 lead after a three-run home run. Benedict then added one run in the bottom of the first, second, and third innings. In the bottom of the sixth, Rainah Khan drove in McNeal to take a 4-3 lead.

Bell then closed the game off in the top of the seventh, giving the Lady Tigers their first conference victory on the year.

In the second game, the Golden Rams took a 3-1 lead after two innings. Bell came to the plate in the second and homered down the left field line to close the gap to one run. Benedict retook the lead, 4-3, off a two-run single by Lakirah Johnson in the fourth.

Albany State scored 10 runs in the final three innings to win the game and split the doubleheader.

Benedict will host Albany State tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the final game of the series.
