MEMPHIS, Tenn. – LeMoyne-Owen hit a 3-pointer with 19 seconds left and defeated the Benedict College Tigers 82-79 in a men's SIAC basketball game on Monday night.
A jumper by
Brandon Smith gave the Tigers a 79-76 lead with 1:55 left in the game. The Magicians scored a layup to cut the lead to one point, then hit a 3-pointer to take the lead. They hit one free throw with two seconds left to close out the scoring.
Benedict falls to 3-3 on the season, 1-1 in the SIAC. LeMoyne-Owen improves to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the SIAC.
Smith led the Tigers with 18 points, while
Malachi McCoy added 17 points.
Benedict returns to action on Saturday with a home conference matchup against Central State at 3 p.m.
