COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's basketball team dropped their first home game of the season, as Morehouse College took an 85-82 victory on Saturday afternoon in a battle between two of the top seeds in the SIAC East Division.
The Tigers had as much as a seven-point lead, 58-51, with 13:45 left to play in the second half. The Maroon Tigers rallied and took their first lead of the second half, 71-69, with 6:16 left to play. Benedict tied the game at 78 with 2:30 left to play. The Maroon Tigers scored the next five points, and Morehouse scored seven of their final eight points from the free throw line.
Benedict falls to 20-6 overall and 14-6 in the SIAC. Morehouse goes to 18-9 overall and 15-5 in the SIAC.
Asanti Price led the Tigers with 21 points, while
Tim Moore added 19 points.
Brandon Smith scored 13 points and
Malachi McCoy chipped in 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Benedict had as much as a nine-point lead, 37-28, with 5:36 left in the first half after a 3-pointer by Price. The Maroon Tigers rallied to tie the game at 45 at the half.

Marshaun West.
Benedict will close out the regular season on Monday night with a home contest against Clark Atlanta.
