COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict College served up 23 total aces as the Lady Tigers cruised to an easy 3-0 victory over Morris College in a women's volleyball match on Thursday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Benedict won the match 25-6, 25-4, 25-5 to improve to 2-1 on the season. Morris falls to 0-2.
Benedict hit .612 in the match, recording 35 total kills on 49 attacks, with just five errors. The .612 hitting percentage ranks 13
th-best in NCAA Division II history in a three-set match. Benedict's 23 aces is the third-most ever by a SIAC school (Stillman had 36 vs. Lane and 34 vs. LeMoyne-Owen in 2008) in a three-set match.
Jadyn Murry led the way with 12 service aces.
Offensively,
Nyla Troncoso and
Krislenn Lucas had seven kills each.
Desire' Young and
T'yannah Lake had five kills each. Murry had 15 assists, while
Willow Alls added 12 assists.
Benedict returns to action on Tuesday, with a home match against Clinton College at 6 p.m.
