JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Benedict College women's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with an 82-72 victory over Edward Waters on Saturday afternoon.
Benedict outscored Edward Waters 24-15 in the fourth quarter to pull away from a close game. Benedict improves to 2-2 on the season. Edward Waters lost for the first time this season and dropped to 2-1.
Ay'Anna Bey scored 22 points to lead the Lady Tigers, and
Camryn Bostick added 21 points.
Taylor Christmas and
Wykira Johnson-Kelly added 13 points each.
Keondra Archie scored seven points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
The Lady Tigers had a 58-57 lead heading into the fourth quarter. A layup by Bostick gave Benedict a 72-65 lead with 4:22 left in the game. Edward Waters cut the lead to 72-69. Benedict scored the next eight points, capped by a jumper by Archie, to take an 80-69 lead with 53 seconds left.
Benedict travels to take on Augusta University on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. before returning home for their SIAC opener against Tuskegee on Saturday at 1 p.m.
